| Lending institutions who offer business and personal loans include banks, savings and loan companies, home mortgage companies or brokers, finance companies and credit unions. Some loans, such as the Small Business Administration or SBA loans and FHA loans are guaranteed and backed by the government. Working in conjunction with a local lender, some loans may as much as 90% guaranteed by the US government. This takes most of the risk off the local lender and allows more loans to be closed, thus helping stimulate the local economy.
